1. Overview
Compvert provides free online file compression and conversion tools without requiring an account. This policy explains what happens to your files and what limited data we process when you use the service.
2. Your files
Files you upload are processed automatically for the sole purpose of performing the conversion or compression you requested. Uploaded files and generated outputs are automatically deleted from our servers 1 hour after download, or 6 hours after processing if never downloaded. We do not open, view, analyze, sell, or share the contents of your files with third parties. Metadata such as EXIF, GPS location, and camera information is stripped from compressed images by default.
3. Data we process
- Technical data: your IP address, browser type, and requested pages, used for security (abuse prevention, rate limiting) and for operating the service.
- Usage limits: per-IP request counters and daily data volume, used only to enforce fair-use limits.
- Preferences: language and theme choices stored in your own browser (cookies/local storage), never sent to advertisers by us.
We do not require names, emails, or accounts, so we do not hold profile data about you.
4. Cookies and third parties
We use a minimal set of cookies for site functionality (language, theme, security tokens). If analytics or advertising is enabled, third-party providers such as Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager (usage measurement) and Google AdSense (ads) may set their own cookies subject to their own policies. You can block cookies in your browser; core conversion features will still work, though preferences will not be remembered.
5. Data retention
Uploaded and generated files: deleted automatically as described in section 2. Security logs (IP, timestamps) are kept for a short period for abuse prevention and then purged. We do not keep backups of your files.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or request portability. Because files are deleted automatically within hours, most requests will find nothing stored. To exercise your rights, contact us via the email address in the site footer.
7. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not upload files containing children's personal data.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
