How PDF compression works
PDF files often contain high-resolution images, embedded fonts and metadata that significantly increase file size. Our PDF compressor uses Ghostscript to reprocess the PDF, downsampling images to appropriate resolutions and removing unnecessary data.
The Screen setting produces the smallest files (72 dpi), ideal for web viewing. eBook setting (150 dpi) is the best balance for most uses. Printer and Prepress settings preserve maximum quality for professional printing.
